プレゼンで使える英語表現
図表を説明するフレーズ

今回もプレゼンの際に使える英語をご紹介したいと思います。

プレゼンで会社紹介などをする際には、業績や商品の売れ行きなどを説明することがあるかと思います。そんな時は、グラフなどの図表を使用すると視覚的に分かりやすくなりますよね。それ以外でも、会議の資料や日常的にもよくグラフを使用すると思います。今回は、そんな図表を英語で説明する際に役立つ単語やフレーズを紹介したいと思います。

まずは、知っておきたい単語から。図表は様々な種類があります。

棒グラフ（帯グラフ）／折れ線グラフ／円グラフ／散布図／図／表
bar graph（bar chart）／line graph／pie chart／scatter diagram／diagram（figure）／table

縦軸／横軸／原点／X軸／Y軸
vertical line（vertical axis）／horizontal line（horizontal axis）／origin／X axis／Y axis

直線／実線／点線／曲線／太線／細線／部分（円グラフなど）
linear line／solid line／dotted line／curved line／thick line／thin line／segment

そして、このような図表を説明する際には、まず下記のようなsignpost表現を加えてみましょう。

（実線が示すのは件数です。）
This colored segment represents our sales.
（この色の部分が、弊社の売り上げを示しています。）
The vertical axis shows the price.
（縦軸が価格を表しています。）
Take a look at this bar graph. This shows the result of the survey.
（この棒グラフをご覧下さい。アンケートの結果を示しています。）
This figure shows the increase of the customers.
（この図は、顧客の増加を表しています。）

また、グラフや表のデータ結果を説明する際は数字がつきものです。数字に絡む表現や変化の程度を表す単語も知っておくと役立ちます。

半分以下／半分近く／半分以上
less than half／nearly half／more than half

800万を超える／10人のうち3人／70％あたり／全体の4分の3

増加（上昇）／減少（低下）／横ばい／倍増／ピークに達する
increase,（go up, rise）／decrease（go down, fall）／stay flat（remain the same）／doubled／reach a peak
※20％増加というような場合は、「go up by 20%」となり、「by」の後に割合を加えます

わずかに／大いに／劇的に／急速に／急に／徐々に／ゆっくりと／適度に
slightly／significantly／dramatically／rapidly（quickly）／suddenly／gradually／slowly（gently）／moderately
※これらの副詞は上記にある「増える」などの変化を意味する単語と一緒に使われることがよくあります

☆例文
As you can see from this graph, it’s equal to a little more than 10 million dollars.
（このグラフからもわかりますように、これは1000万ドル強に相当します。）
This data shows that our profits increased rapidly.
（このデータは、弊社の利益が急速に増加したことを示しています。）
I’d like you to look at this thick line. The sales went up by 15% in the last fiscal year.
（こちらの太線をご覧ください。昨年度、売り上げは15%増加しました。）
Take a look at this result. Nearly nine out of ten people preferred online payment.
（この結果をご覧ください。10人中9人近くの人が、オンライン決済を選択しました。）
This data is demonstrating that nearly half of customers buy our products using smartphones now.
（このデータは、現在、半分近くの顧客の方が我々の製品をスマホで購入していることを示しています。）

Signpost表現と組み合わせることで、とてもスムーズに様々な表現ができるようになります。これらを意識して、聞き手にわかりやすいプレゼンテーションができると良いですね。
