英文法＜1＞　前置詞 ①

　今回のテーマは「前置詞」です。
前置詞は名詞の前に置いて、場所や位置、方向など名詞を補う役割があり、日本人にとって少し難しい概念になります。また、前置詞はたくさんあるので、全て使いこなすことは簡単ではありません。今回はよく使うat, in, onの基本的な使い方を紹介したいと思います。簡単だと思う人もいらっしゃるかと思いますが、もう一度復習してみましょう。

＜Part1＞ Prepositions of time（時間を表す前置詞）：at, on, in

A. at
1. at+clock time（時間）
Work starts at 8:30. （8時半に仕事が始まります。）
The meeting starts at 1 o’clock.（1時に会議が始まります。）

2. at+ noon/midnight（正午・零時）
I usually go to bed at midnight.（普段は零時に就寝します。）
I have lunch at noon.（昼食は正午に取ります。）

3. at+ night（夜）
We do zoom conference at night.（私たちはズーム会議を夜にします。）

4. at+ dinnertime/lunchtime（夕食時、昼食時）
Let’s order pizza at lunchtime.（昼食時にピザを頼みましょう。）

※atのイメージは、ピンポイントの時間帯を説明する時に使います。

B. on
1. on+ day（曜日）
We have to give a presentation on Monday.（私たちは月曜日に発表しないといけません。）

2.on+ the weekend/weekends（週末、毎週末）
I read books on the weekends.（私は毎週末、本を読みます。）
I have tennis practice on the weekend. ※atでもok （私は週末にテニスの練習があります。）

3. on+date（日付）
I have a doctor’s appointment on January 5th.（私は病院の予約が1月5日にあります。）
I am going to a party on February 14th.（私は2月14日にパーティーに行きます。）

C. in
1. in+ the morning/the afternoon/ the evening
I work in the morning.（私は朝に働いています。）
I have coffee in the afternoon. （私は午後にコーヒーを飲みます。）
I go to the gym in the evening.（私は夜にジムに行きます。）

2. in+ month/year/season
My birthday is in March.（私の誕生日は3月です。）
I started this company in 1988.（私は1988年にこの会社を設立しました。）
I like to see the cherry blossoms in the spring.（私は春にお花見をするのが好きです。）

●どの時間を説明するかで前置詞の使い方が変わってきますね。イメージとしては、atはピンポイント、もう少し大きいくくりになるとon、さらに大きなくくりの月、年、季節になるとin を使用します。イメージを持って使ってみると理解が深まります。
